Reading Town A-A Headington Amateurs 3rd January 2009 (Supplementary Cup)

Post  RTFC Barmy Army on Mon Dec 29, 2008 8:19 am

Another great result on Saturday beating Marlow by 6 goals and keeping another clean sheet which is superb. Now the Town look forward to playing Headington Amateurs in the The Soccer Kits PLUS Supplementary Cup (which is a bit of a mouthful to say the least Laughing ) Headington Amateurs are mid table in the Hellenic Division One (West.) Headington are in some good form at the moment unbeaten in their last six games, 4 wins and 2 draws.

Before the game got even started there was discussion out on the pitch about whether or not the game would go ahead and thankfully it did, which pleased both sets of fans.

1st Half: Headington had most of the chances in the 1st half which saw Scotty Hodgetts pull off a string of good saves. Reading Town took the lead midway through the 1st half against the run of play. Headington Amateurs still had plenty of shots on goal 2 of which hit the cross bar. Reading Town did have a really good chance to make it 2-0 but it was being fired backwards and forwards into the box and unfortunately no could guide it into the back of the net. I am not sure how Headington didn't score as they had so many chances which got a bunch of their fans animated and shouting come on you blues and also strange noise which sounded like seals Laughing

2nd half: Did not get started due to the playing conditions which left fans dissapionted as it was a an entertaining game to watch and at 1-0 anything could have happened.

Very disappointing that the game did get abandoned, especially as half of it had been played with no problems and it was only a very small area of the pitch affected.

Headington were I thought were by far the better team so who knows, they could have come back and won the match had the second half gone ahead. Considering the run Town have been on was surprised at how much Headington did dominate. The replay though will be a whole new match so hopefully, Town will be more like the Town we've seen over the last couple of months. Very Happy

Thought it was a really good game today enjoyed your support and thought it was a shinning example of non league football.
we was very upset the game did get abandoned as we really thought we could come away with the victory. But at least we can come again to your ground and continue the banter.

Just been looking at the fixture lists on the Hellenic site, and I see this game has been rearranged for 7th February (week after the Bicester game).
