Reading Town 1-4 Newport IOW

Post  Varnaboyz on Sun Aug 29, 2010 5:54 am

Reading fail once again to progress into the first qualifying round of the FA cup as they were beaten by superior opposition. The first half ended goalless with Town taking the game to the visitors and bringing a few great saves out of the Newport keeper, unfortunately this was to be costly in the second half as Newport stepped up a gear and made their class tell smashing into a four goal lead....Reading Town still pressed but could only manage a consolation goal late on. With Reading now out of the cup they can concentrate on matters in the league and hopefully back to winnings ways against Ascot United on Monday.

It was fairly even in the first half and did see the Reading boys create a few well worked chances. Newport had couple chances down the other end as well but the score was 0-0 going into the break. Newport then went onto scored 4 goals in the second and dominated proceedings which saw some more chances from Newport. The Reading boys never gave up and kept plugging away, which saw Danny Seaward score after getting to the ball before the keeper which left him to slot the ball into an empty net.

Looking forward to the Ascot game and once again going via train so should be fun.

Thanks to the Barmy Army for your contributions today. you are a credit to your club, singing for 90 minutes and not a swear word in sight.
Hopefully you can get things back together and go on to win the rest of your league games. Its true, Sausages are much better than eggs.

Thank you for your comments Nobby58.
The Barmy Army will always try to support the Club and entertain wherever possible.
We are not popular at some venues, but hey, we do what it says on the tin.
This season will not be easy, but nobody promised that it would be with almost a completely new squad.
Enjoy your season also Nobby58 wherever you visit.
